چکیده

The Alpine-Himalayan orogenic belt, the well-identified seismically active region in world, has been evidenced by occurrence of recent two devastating earthquake doublets 2015 central Nepal (MW 7.8 and MW 7.3) 2023 southeastern Turkey(MW 7.5). In this study, seismic ground motion characteristics damaging earthquakes namely doublet that occurred Himalaya Turkey eastern Mediterranean investigated. observed strong-motion recordings indicate peak acceleration (PGA) values are about 152.61–154.96 cm/s2 at KATNP station 451.834–842.924 3137. both SE shows produced much lower than doublet.

The 2015 Gorkha Nepal Earthquake: Insights from Earthquake Damage Survey

The 2015 Gorkha Nepal earthquake caused tremendous damage and loss. To gain valuable lessons from this tragic event, an earthquake damage investigation team was dispatched to Nepal from 1 May 2015 to 7 May 2015. A unique aspect of the earthquake damage investigation is that first-hand earthquake damage data were obtained 6–11 days after the mainshock. To gain deeper understanding of the observe...

Widespread ground motion distribution caused by rupture directivity during the 2015 Gorkha, Nepal earthquake

The ground motion and damage caused by the 2015 Gorkha, Nepal earthquake can be characterized by their widespread distributions to the east. Evidence from strong ground motions, regional acceleration duration, and teleseismic waveforms indicate that rupture directivity contributed significantly to these distributions. This phenomenon has been thought to occur only if a strike-slip or dip-slip r...

Ground Motion Characteristics of the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake, Survey of Damage to Stone Masonry Structures and Structural Field Tests

On April 25, 2015, a M7.8 earthquake rattled central Nepal; ground motion recorded in Kantipath, Kathmandu, 76.86 km east of the epicenter suggested that the low-frequency component was dominant. We consider data from eight aftershocks following the Gorkha earthquake and analyze ground motion characteristics; we found that most of the ground motion records are dominated by low frequencies for e...

Tropical disease after earthquake: 2015 Nepal earthquake

The earthquake is usually a big disaster that causes several death and mortalities. Post earthquake crisis is an important situation for management. The recent 2015 Nepal earthquake is one of the most destructive earthquakes in history. In post earthquake crisis, lack of facilities, destroyed of infrastructures and limitation of transportation can be expected. This can superimpose the situation...

Fatality rates of the Mw ~8.2, 1934, Bihar–Nepal earthquake and comparison with the April 2015 Gorkha earthquake

Large Himalayan earthquakes expose rapidly growing populations of millions of people to high levels of seismic hazards, in particular in northeast India and Nepal. Calibrating vulnerability models specific to this region of the world is therefore crucial to the development of reliable mitigation measures. Here, we reevaluate the >15,700 casualties (8500 in Nepal and 7200 in India) from the Mw ~...
